Our Mission

The Amputee Connection of Redlands' mission is to serve and encourage people with limb loss to enhance their physical and emotional health through peer counseling, educational & recreational programs, and community outreach.

The vision of the Amputee Connection is to empower caregivers, families, and  friends to optimize the care and well being of people with limb loss in  Southern California.

Amputee Connections is an all volunteer amputee support/resource group that has been  meeting at Redlands Community Hospital for 30 years.

We are affiliated with our National organization The Amputee Coalition of America (ACA).  ACA has the largest amputee data base in the world.

We have access to all of the above plus approximately 300 Support groups and 1000 Certified Peer Visitors.  Peer Visitors are Certified by ACA.

Amputee Connections has seven Certified Peer Visitors including two Spanish speaking.   A Peer Visitor visits someone who is facing an amputation or who has recently been through surgery.  The visit can be at the persons home, the hospital, a rehabilitation facility, by telephone, or via Skype.

Our National Conferences are held every year and span the country. This year was in Tucson,  AZ, and had almost 1,200 registered attendees. These conferences are a huge event for new or experienced amputees. You will see why on other pages here.

In 2019, it will be in San Antonio, TX..  This is as close to the west coast as it will get in the next 2 years.  We wish to have at least ten or more of our members go to this event.

Depending on the amputees travel needs the estimated cost will be between $1,400 to $1,800 each.

We are hoping and praying to raise $15,000 to send our members to conference.

To show you how important our National Conference is to amputees, please check out this video from 2018. 1180 attended! Even non amputees can  see how we interact with each other, and the wide variety of amputee levels at conference. A huge learning experience in three days!

No amputee went home without learning something, and all gained a ton of new friends some life long!
