Who We Are

The All Volunteer San Bernardino Mountain Search and Rescue team, operated through the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, is one of the premier search and rescue teams in Southern California. Along with our sister teams, we are responsible for operations in the largest county in the continental United States. With an area of over 20,000 square miles, which is large enough to put four small states in, our teams need to be prepared to handle a variety of environmental and terrain challenges. We provide these services free of charge 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

What We Do

In addition to searching for missing persons, performing rescues, recovering victims, and assisting during wildfires, SAR teams may be called upon during a major disaster.  To support this effort, our team is pursuing training and certification as a light Urban Search And Rescue (USAR) team. This year, our goal is to raise enough money to purchase equipment necessary to support rescue efforts after a major disaster, like a large earthquake.
