SOLAR FUTURES PROGRAM

  • Solar Futures is a program that provides both classroom and hands-on solar education to K-14 students, with a focus on high school juniors and seniors, to provide opportunities to learn more about solar power and illuminate career pathways in the booming solar industry. Our classroom-on-the-roof structure allows students to experience hands-on solar training in a real world setting.
  • To date, 583 students have participated in GRID's Solar Futures program.

TRIBAL PROGRAM

  • The Tribal Program focuses on offering tribal communities access to renewable energy and education about the solar industry. The Inland Empire office currently serves the Bishop Paiute Tribe, Timbisha Shoshone Tribe, Big Pine Tribe of the Owens Valley, Torres Martinez Desert Cahuilla Indians, Chemehuevi Indian Tribe, Santa Rosa Band of Cahuilla Indians, and Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians.
  • As of 2018, GRID's Tribal Program has installed 253 systems and trained 89 participants in tribal communities within the Inland Empire.

About GRID Alternatives Inland Empire:

  • GRID Alternatives is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that brings together community partners, volunteers and job trainees to implement solar power and energy efficiency for low-income families, providing energy cost savings, valuable hands-on experience, and a source of clean, local energy that benefits us all — all at no-cost to our program participants.
